After researching the feud between the Mods and the Rockers, I was inspired to create a dress that reflected the elements Mods valued in their style. I designed a circular pattern on Adobe Illustrator and fabric-printed it onto cotton percale. Using a self-drafted pattern inspired by Mary Quant, I constructed the dress and hand-beaded parts of the print for added detail. I brought in the Rocker elements through the styling—tough shoes and a leather jacket—to represent what the Rockers held close to their hearts. Though the two groups clashed, this look reimagines their styles in harmony, as if mutual respect had always been part of the story.
